Product Description
The Xposed Framework project is still alive and just does not want to give up yet. Although there have been clear delays in recent developments. This article gives a guide on how to install Xposed Framework 5.1.1 on your phone.
It is said that the Xposed development team currently consists of Rovo89 alone. Therefore, is it any wonder that even behind the versions of Android, this once most popular fashion is obviously becoming more and more difficult to keep up with?
But we do not criticize in any way. The work of Rovo89 is clearly not easy, and the lag is not so significant – just one version. That is, Xposed for Android 7 Nougat is almost ready and is expected to be released around the time of the official release of Android 8.0.
So, today Xposed is not a mod for those who are used to using only the latest versions of Android. But it is still extremely popular among all those whose smartphones and tablets do not update as quickly as Pixel-s or Nexus-s.
For those who are not in the know or have forgotten, we remind you that the Xposed Framework, as before, consists of two halves. The first is the Xposed Installer application, which is actually a center for installing and managing modules.
And the Xposed Framework itself, which is nothing more than the execution environment for all user-selected settings, is half number 2.
The new Xposed in both of its guises is traditionally easy to install and configure. And now we will tell/remind you how this is done.
But first, let’s clarify the conditions necessary for further work. So we will need:
- Smartphone/tablet with root rights,
- With Android 5 (v. 5.0–5.1.1) or Android 6 (v. 6.0–6.0.1) OS,
- With pre-installed custom Recovery (preferably TWRP) and …
- With activated permission to install applications from unknown sources.
Important! The Xposed Framework in its official version runs on stock Android. Xposed Framework does not work on proprietary firmware from mobile device manufacturers, as well as on other custom firmware, even if they are based on stock ones. For example, if you have one of the Samsung Galaxy with proprietary TouchWiz, then Xposed does not officially support this option.
Of course, no one bothers to try to put Xposed on any suitable device with pre-installed firmware from the manufacturer, but, as practice shows, such experiments rarely bring the desired result immediately.
Therefore, before starting such experiments, be sure to create a complete Nandroid Backup – it definitely won’t hurt.
How to install Xposed Framework on a smartphone/tablet
Step 1 – Download the Xposed Installer App
Nothing without him. Only this application will allow you to download and install both individual Xposed modules and the entire Xposed Framework.
So, we check once again that installation of applications from unknown sources is allowed in Android, download the Xposed Installer APK file (at the time of publication of the post it is v. 3.1.1 ), and start the installation procedure.
Step 2 – Install Xposed Framework
After the installation is completed, open the Xposed Installer, and go to the Framework section (via the application menu). There we tap the button ” Install / Update ” and then – ” Install ” (” Install “) if the installation does not start automatically.
The application will ask for superuser rights, so in the window that appears, tap the “ Grant ” (“ Allow ”) button and then wait until the installation of the Xposed Framework is completed.
You will find out that it has ended on the screen with a countdown until the smartphone is rebooted on the “ Reboot “ button. By the way, you can not wait, but tap ” Reboot ” immediately. Rebooting usually takes a little longer than usual.
Important! If there are any problems at this stage, then repeat #step 2 from the beginning, but start installing the Xposed Framework via TWRP (“ Install via recovery “ button).
Step 3 – Install Xposed Modules
After rebooting the smartphone, the first thing to check is the presence of the mod. To do this, open the Xposed Installer application again and go to the Framework section again.
If a green box is displayed at the top of the screen with the inscription “ Xposed Framework version XX is active ” , then the mod is installed, functioning normally and now you can start installing the necessary modules.
Go to the “ Download ” (“ Downloads ”) section of the Xposed Installer application, find the required module in the repository, and select, download, and install it. After installing the modules, activate them and reboot the smartphone. By the way, in terms of popularity, GravityBox still confidently holds the first place.
