Connect as a disk (Windows)
Click ⊞ Win+E. The Explorer window will open. Open the folder with the IMG file.
To copy a file that is on the IMG drive to another folder on your computer, drag the file to the appropriate folder. When you’re done with the IMG file, unmount it. To do this, scroll down the left pane in the Explorer window, right-click on the mounted IMG drive, and then click Eject.
Using WinZip (Windows)
Select Disk Images (*.img, *.iso, *.vhd, *.vmdk). You will find this option in the lower right corner of the window.
Click Yes, and extract files to (folder name). The files will be extracted to a folder that will be created in the folder with the .img file.
Navigate to the folder with the IMG file. In this folder, you will find a new folder named the same as the IMG file.
If your computer does not have this program.
Connect as a disk (Mac OS X)
Open Finder
Double-click on the .img file. It will be mounted as a drive; its icon will appear on the desktop. A window will also open displaying the contents of the.IMG file.
- To copy a file that is on the IMG drive to another folder on your computer, drag the file to the appropriate folder.
- When you’re done with the IMG file, unmount it. To do this, go to the desktop and drag the IMG disk icon to the “Eject” icon at the bottom of the screen (where the Trash icon is usually located).
Other ways for Windows 7 and WinRAR
- Open Winrar.
- Find the.IMG file.
- Right-click on the IMG file. Select “Show Archive Contents”.
- Now you can open the contents of the IMG file.
- To copy a file from the IMG to another folder on your computer, drag it to the desired location.
